Preview: Facebook integration in the Kiosk software!
| As you might know already, the Kiosk is a software package that allows your customers to register themselves. They don't book themselves into sessions, but in your database. A database by the way is essential to a good development of a leisure center. But this has been and will be again the subject of various articles already in our newsletters. |
Speed up the registering process of your customers even more
| Without a Kiosk, you have to register your customers yourself at the Point of Sale. This makes you lose time. Thanks to the Kiosk, you just have to sell a member card (often called 'Racing license' or 'Track access') to each customer, which just takes a couple of seconds.
Today you can optimize this people flow! It is actually possible to speed up the registration process of customers that have a Facebook account. The workflow is very simple:
1° The customer enters the e-mail address and password of his Facebook account
2° He accepts your Facebook application (more information below)
3° The available data is immediately imported in the Kiosk

Depending on his configured preferences in Facebook, you can retrieve his name, first name, address, e-mail, telephone number as well as his profile picture.
Note that the data imported into the Kiosk corresponds to the data set to "visible for everyone". We don't import any data that has any restrictions on visibility (for instance "only friends") for privacy concerns.
Even more fun for your customers
Your customers will be delighted to see their data appear automatically on the screen. But the highlight of this process is the picture. These profile pictures are most of the time something funny. They will also appear on the televisions before and after the races!
If your customers don't want to use their Facebook profile picture, they can just take a picture with one click at the end of the registration process, just like in the classic version of the Kiosk.

Kiosk and iNet Social Networks
This version of the Kiosk is available now for our clients that use the iNet Social Networks application. The update of the classic Kiosk to the Facebook Kiosk is free of charge.
To summarize: iNet Social Networks is an application that connects your karting to Facebook and Twitter. Your customers are able to compare their race results with their friends, to challenge them to a race and they have insight in all of the races driven on your circuit. Soon available: the ranking between friends and general ranking of every customer amongst all of your customers!

The importance of a consistent house style By Wout (graphical designer at SMS-Timing B&MI)
What is a house style?
A "house style" is a document with a set of rules and guidelines for the communication style of your karting. These rules specify everything from logos, to colors to use in documents, to website design and writing style. Chances are, even if you haven't got a house style written down on paper, that you still have a clear vision in your head of what your logo, your colors, and your website should look like.
Identity through consistency
We see lots of different karting house styles, some better than others. Overall, the important thing to remember is the importance of consistency.
When you have a good, professional logo, colors and typefaces, stick to them. Force yourself to use these guidelines in all communication, towards your customers as well as to businesses. Use them on letters, invoices, printouts, website, e-mailings, even the interior design of your karting. Limit the amount of color combinations and typefaces of your style.
This way, you will create a consistent, uniform style that people will associate with your business. This identity is your face to the outside world! If it makes a sloppy, untidy impression, people will be less encouraged to come to your karting.
When designing mailings, Kiosks, iNet and HDTV Display styles, the graphical team of SMS-Timing always tries to get a good impression of the complete house style of the karting they're working for. Of course, the better the house style we see before us, the better our final product will be.

Style design – a good investment?
While it is perfectly possible to make a good logo yourself, it is rarely a bad idea to have it made by a professional graphical designer. It might be a big investment, but keep this in mind: a good logo and design will last for years to come. Take for instance the Coca Cola logo, which is about 126 years old!
With new projects, SMS-Timing sometimes encounters karting centers that have no logo or style yet. As your supplier for everything marketing, of course we can create a professional style for you.
Software customers, feel free to contact us if you wish to update your designs related to your software suite.
